transdisciplinary methods and mediations

India China Institute, Dalits in Global Context: Rethinking Gender and Religion, October 2019

As part of the India China Institute's programming for visiting scholars, Dalits in Global Context: Rethinking Gender and Religion, this workshop explored interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to research and practice. The workshop considered how practitioners from various fields might work collaboratively in addressing complex social and political issues at the intersection of caste, gender, and religion.
In the workshop, we drew from the work of the participating young, Dalit scholars, and collaboratively explored issues relating to research practices, publishing, and teaching in contexts charged with classism, sexism, and biases related to religion. Using performance and actor mapping, participants explored co-creative processes across disciplinary divides.
