transforming perfectionism,
valuing mistakes

Facilitated with Amy Grillo, Associate Professor of the Practice, Education Studies, Center for Pedagogical Innovation, Wesleyan University, October 2018

Does perfectionism get in the way of your students’ learning? Is class participation performative? Are students reluctant to speak for fear of making mistakes or “sounding dumb?” Are students willing to take intellectual or creative risks in their writing and thinking? In this faculty salon we explored ways to encourage

and cultivate learning through mistakes and to counteract the perfectionism that so often limits student learning.
