just futures working group

This working group includes a small group of faculty from across the university who collaborate to develop pedagogical and public, research-based activities. We explore speculative methods grounded in social justice, drawing from art, design, the humanities and social sciences. As part of this initiative, we curated a virtual booth and series of events for UNESCO's Futures Literacy Summit 2020. Addressing the crisis of imagination the Parsons exhibition showcased representative student projects that investigate how design can be used as a practice of critique and speculation to challenge existing systems and propose provocative alternatives.

Jane Pirone and I are now developing a critical futures lab at The New School/Parsons that hosted its first event in the fall of 2024 with more planned for the offical launch in 2025.
