This project, supported by the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility, explores displacement in relation to climate change and ecological loss; belonging, connection, and kinship; and unlearning imperialism as a form of social transformation. We look to living systems and the biological sciences, asking what the natural world can teach us about mutual aid, recovery, and restoration. Our current collaborative research and creative practice centers speculative storytelling and visionary fiction, as these find sustenance from traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), queer and non-binary perspectives, and multi-species cosmopolitics. Through the creation of new myths and rituals, we explore grieving and possibilities for transformation. We are now materializing this ongoing work through the publication of a scholarly anthology, the creation of artifacts as methodological tools, the design of studio courses, and the development of a multi-sited exhibition.
